Water to Fire 🔥 Equinox begets Spring Darkness makes way for light and things begin to grow. I always look forward to the spark of fire, more light, and more heat. Hibernation was lovely and all, but there’s more fun in the sun. This magical place is @twobunchpalms where it is not hyperbole to say that healing waters come bubbling out of the earth. I’ll take it as hot as they’ll let me, scalding on my lizard skin. If you need to unplug and rejuvenate... ...take me with you 😆🙃

So grateful to attend the premiere of “40 Watts From Nowhere” at @slamdancegroup - the documentary film about KBLT, a 90s pirate radio station in Silver Lake that was the brain child of the unstoppable Sue Carpenter. It is a visual time capsule of the 90s and a testament to the spirit of punk rock, where taking back the airwaves was as much an act of rebellion as a means to be heard above the fray. ‘40 Watts’ is extra special to me because I was introduced to the book of the same name by my dear friends @misterandmischief who asked me to be a part of their immersive play based on @susancarpenterinla ‘s true story - as the voice of Sue. Filling those shoes and seeing the joy of audiences who discovered their inner pirate radio deejays was a reminder of why art matters in all shapes and forms. That play, and this doc made me nostalgic for a time when even a place as big as LA felt smaller, when we saw people in real life and stumbled into groups of strangers who became friends, a time when KBLT built a community of deejays, artists, and listeners who were all in it for the music. An illegal radio station, documented in a book, that inspired a play, that reunited so many KBLT deejays, and now this documentary.
