Gremlins: The Wild Batch
Season 2 (part deux) of Gremlins: The Wild Batch is out on Max!
To say this project is so special to me is an understatement, the who’s who of Asian talent that I have looked to and admired on display, getting to share the screen with the legendary James Hong, plus 😅 Ming-Na Wen & BD Wong
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Tze Chun and Brendan Hay who have shepherded this franchise so brilliantly with all it’s quirk and chaos and heart and humor.
Extra special full circle moment for 19 year old me, who was interning in the story department on the Universal lot at Amblin, and would never have imagined working on THIS property with THIS team 🥰
This season in particular melds Chinese and American West mythology, which tingles all my childhood memories of learning to be American hand in hand with my immigrant parents, and how intermingled all those characters were in my bedtime stories & dreams. I famously cannot watch most horror, or I will run up my electric bill keeping the lights on at night… but this show is what I loved about creeping myself out when I was a kid, just the right amount of heebie jeebies, undead/supernatural characters, and silliness that turns terrifying in an instant.
